Youth Climbing Programs

N3C’s youth climbing programs give kids an opportunity to improve their climbing by working with skilled instructors each week. Through a variety of age-appropriate games, drills, and activities, the climbers will learn climbing and rope-working skills as well as cooperation, teamwork, and critical thinking.

Student Expectations

Students in the Mighty Minis group can expect to take turns climbing, and learn new skills through teamwork and fun games. Students are asked to try their best and participate fully during each class. They are expected to work toward independence in putting on their climbing harness and tying a figure 8 knot.

Parent Expectations

Children in the Mighty Minis class are not yet old enough to belay, as such, parents are asked to learn how to belay and to stay for the duration of the class. We understand that not every parent can be available each week, but ask that each family provide assistance throughout the session. Belay lessons are offered during the first class of every session.

Student Expectations

Outdoor climbing takes more time than indoor climbing, there will be times where students are hanging out at the base of the cliff, not climbing. They are expected to take turns belaying and climbing. The Top Knots will focus on technical rope skills as well as climbing outdoors.
