Celebrate Send-tember!
The nights are getting chilly, the sun is going down earlier each evening, and many leaves are starting (just starting!) to change color. It can only mean one thing: Send-tember is upon us! Why do we call it Send-tember? It’s because the cool, dry, generally stable weather during the month of September makes it the perfect time of year to send that project you spent the summer slipping off of.
But September means more than just ideal outdoor climbing. It also means that the kids are back in school, the summer crowds have thinned out (and the leaf-peeper crowds haven’t started yet), and there’s a whole new season of awesome stuff happening at N3C!
This fall we are doing more than ever! Keep reading to learn more about our Fall Youth Climbing Open House (free climbing!), new yoga schedule (3 classes a week!), Customer Appreciation BBQ (and long-awaited Adult League awards ceremony!), and outdoor guiding updates, as well as our fall hours and community news.
Customer Appreciation BBQ – Saturday September 17th
Join us on Saturday, September 17th at 6pm to bid farewell to the summer over burgers, brews, and other tasty delights. The BBQ will be held rain or shine! Bring your appetite and tales of your summer adventures!
We will also be holding our long-awaited award ceremony for this spring’s Adult League. If you participated in the League, you’ll want to be here.
Outdoor Guiding Update
This summer we upped our outdoor game by taking lots of folks out on our Thursdays at the Crag, our Summer Saturday sessions, and our private guiding offerings.
Since it’s starting to get darker earlier, we have wrapped up Thursdays at the Crag for the season. Thanks to everyone who joined us this season on Thursday evenings!
We are, however, continuing outdoor guiding as long as the weather will allow us. Saturdays we will be taking a crew out cragging from 10am to 2pm or so. Please call if you are interested in joining! Families are welcome! Preregistration is required. $60 per person or a 4-pack for $200.

Community Updates
Major Loss for the Climbing Community. Climbers around the world were saddened recently to learn that two top American alpinists, Kyle Dempster (33) and Scott Adamson (34), disappeared in an attempt to climb Ogre II in Pakistan. They were caught on the mountain in bad weather. Their families called off the search several days ago. More information can be found here.
Be careful when belaying! In early July, Ashima Shiraishi, one of the strongest climbers in the world, took a 45 foot ground fall at a climbing gym. The accident was apparently caused by her belayer squeezing the brake release lever of a Petzl GriGri 2 belay device. More about the incident can be found here. Lessons about the use of GriGris can be found here. The good news is that she wasn’t seriously injured and has continued to climb harder than ever (she sent another V15 in early August).
Speaking of Ashima, REEL ROCK 11, which prominently features the young phenom, is about to launch. And N3C is partnering with the Colonial Theatre to bring it to our corner of the world. More info on this to come soon!
Lobsterfest. Do you like helping great causes? Do you like lobster (or steak for that matter)? Join the Littleton Rotary club on October 15th at the Bretton Woods base lodge and help do good while living well. Tickets are just $35 and can be purchased at N3C or online.
